Dalton, has one of the coolest jobs in Rodeo as a pickup man. He grew up around Rodeo as his dad NFR pick up man, Billy Ward, toured with the Harry Vold Rodeo Company. Following in his father’s footsteps, Dalton is one of the top hands in the business today and does not take it for granted. I was fascinated listening to Dalton’s story and know you will be too.

Stephen Savage first came to prominence as the creative force behind the romantic ecology centered comedy “Cosmic Radio”, starring Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, and Irene Bedard (the voice of Disney’s “Pocahontas”). The film was the sleeper hit of the 2008 Palm Springs International Film Festival, becoming the first film to sell out all three of its opening weekend screenings. Since then, Savage has written, produced, and or directed five more feature films, including the 2011 thriller “Legacy”, starring Wolfgang Bodison (“A Few Good Men”, Joe Somebody”) and Conor O’Farrell (HBO’s The Pacific”, “Stir Of Echoes”), and two television length dramas for The Sundance Channel, “The Hunter’s Moon” starring Wes Studi, and “Tide Of Whispers”, a joint Scottish/Canadian project which was shot in the Arctic Circle. Savage wrote and directed the Rock climbing comedy-drama “Vertical”, winner of the Best Foreign Film Award at the 2015 London International Film Festival” and the Audience Choice trophy at the 2015 Paris Film Expo. His commercial work for such prominent clients as Tesla, Hyundai, Acura, Suzuki, and Kia, and his work with Time Warner’s Travel Channel, The History Channel, and Journey TV, all put him on the fast track to a major directing career in film, TV, and Web Based advertising, and his stint as a featured director on A&E Network’s “Son’s Of Hollywood” helped make him a triple threat in the film, TV and commercial ad game. Stephen is also the author of a new adaptation of California’s Official State Play, “Ramona”, based on the 1884 Helen Hunt Jackson novel and the 1923 stage play of the same name, which is performed each spring in the beautiful 6000 seat Ramona Bowl Amphitheater in Southern California. Savage is also the founder and director of the Idyllwild International Festival Of Cinema, occurring every March in Idyllwild, California.

Rasp Designs is The Original Rasp Jewelry Company. Rasp Designs not only creates custom rasp jewelry, but also creates rasp accessories and rasp riding hardware. Our designs are for both women and men, hand crafted from a horse shoeing rasp (farriers file) that was used while shoeing horses. Each piece is truly unique and carries with it the history of blacksmith work along with the essence of each horse the rasp was used upon.
The husband and wife team, Bryan and Melanie Martineau, design and hand make each piece together with their blacksmith and design talents along with their influences of rodeo, ranching and western lifestyle upbringings. They reside in the North Scottsdale/Rio Verde area of Arizona with their three daughters, all under the age of five.
Raised in Corvallis, MT, Bryan began horseshoeing and training horses at the age of 13 and continues these lines of work. Bryan competed in saddle bronc riding and team roping. Each rasp Bryan uses when shoeing horses is then turned into the rasp jewelry, accessories and riding hardware. He is currently retired from saddle bronc riding along the rodeo trail and enjoys team roping and golf when he has time off work.
Melanie was raised north of Santa Fe, NM on a horse ranch. She grew up being involved with rodeo, horse showing, and horse racing. She moved to Arizona to attend college at Arizona State University where she graduated in design, urban planning and construction management. Melanie manages the marketing, sales, customer service, accounting, events, website and social media for Rasp Designs. She enjoys running, hiking, golf and time with her kids and family.
How We Got Started:
Seven years ago we started making jewelry out of farrier rasps for family and clients for gifts and thank you’s. Melanie’s Grandpa was one of the main reasons and inspirations we ever came up with the Rasp jewelry. Our family and friends got the word out about our jewelry/spurs within the rodeo, ranching, farming and equestrian communities. After the first three years we decided to turn our hobby into a legit business in 2015. That year we also took a leap of faith, overcoming many obstacles, including expecting our third child, and became a vendor at South Point during the NFR and World Series of Team Roping Championships. This is our fourth year of operating Rasp Designs as a business and being a vendor at large shows like the NFR. Since 2015, our business has more than tripled and Bryan has been able to cut his horse shoeing business down by 70%, which allows for more freedom schedule wise and more time at home with family/kids.

Jenny Gilbert, the owner of Go Rope.
In 2008, while heading steers at a local jackpot, my father’s horse stumbled and fell with him during a run, resulting in a severe, traumatic brain injury. Defying the doctor’s predictions, he survived and began the painstakingly slow road to recovery with one goal in mind – to rope again.
I encourage each of you to never take your God given abilities and life’s opportunities for granted. God didn’t create us to be spectators. Live boldly. Pursue your passion. Count your blessings.
You never know when you might back in the box to run your last steer. To that I say, “Life is short. Go Rope.”

Cowboy Surf Shop has been a leading force in Northern California since the early 70’s.
Founded by Craig”Cowboy”Mac Arthur as Miramar Surf Boards in 1971 in it’s original location, the shop was mainly a showroom for the surfboards that Craig shaped and glassed, as well as serving as Half Moon Bay’s first surf shop.
Many years have been spent learning and perfecting the trade of surfboard production, as well as other ventures including the opening of the retail store Cowboy Surf Shop in 1982.
Craig also teamed with friend Chip Rowland, and Bob Hurley in 1984 to work as Northern California Sales Rep for the then start up surf line Billabong.
His duties consisted of building the Northwestern territory for Billabong, and managing the Northern California Billabong Surf Team.
Craig recruited local talent from his territory which consisted of surfers like Daryl “Flea” Virotsgo, brother Troy, Nate & Zach Acker, Richard & Dave Schmidt, Vince Collier, Adam Repogle, and many more.
Other duties stemmed from teaming up with Billabong’s pro surfers like “Sunny Garcia” and “Doogle Walker”when surfing in local contests like the O’Neill Coldwater Classic, or going on photo shoots to distant locations for surfing magazines with other pro surfers.
Craig’s sales reputation soon earned him jobs with other prominent companies like Rusty Presendorfer who was just getting his clothing line going, and soon hired Craig as his Northern California Sales Rep.
Utilizing Craigs relationship with stores & shops, Rusty was a shoe-in with his line of T ‘Shirts and Stickers, and was soon on his way to liable recognition in Northern California .
Craig was also hired as Sales Rep for Billabongs sister like company Peak Wetsuits, headed out by John “The Butcher” Howitt, the Aussie wetsuit entrepreneur who later went on to start Quiksilver Wetsuits.
It was about four and a half years into his sale repping career when Craig was recruited by the local Surf / Rock Band Bug.
Led by Singer Web Fingers, and Bassist Bubba Luv, Craig was the newest member playing Lead Guitar. (Stage Name “Dude Broman”).
See Bug click on image below
After several years of hard work, recording, rehearsing, playing gigs, and Frat Parties, Bug had worked it’s way up the local circuit to the point of being a major player on the Bay Area music scene.
Bug had found a home at the Cactus Club in San Jose where their hard core followers packed the venue night after night, headlining, and also playing support for acts like Primus. Mary’s Danish, The Vandals, Urban Dance Squad, and Mojo Nixon, (just to name a few).
Bug also won the the” Bay Area Battle of the Bands” contest, and played to thousands of people at the Oakland Collesieum, as well as plying every major venue in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Bug was well on their way to stardom, local rock magazines were revue them almost weekly, and one went as far as saying that “Bug was going to be the next bay area rock band after Primus to go over the top”.
The press did not go unnoticed, and local recording studio mogul Joel Jaffe from Studio D in Sausalito had picked up on the buzz, and invited the band to come down to the lavish studio to record a 3 song demo that he would shop to some of his record label connections.
Things were going great with repping, and playing in the band. Craig started to date one of the Bug dancers, Lucy Turner, who soon became a cult fav as Hippi Bitch, a character in one of the bands popular songs.
